The PEE-POD 500 is the beneficiary of over 50 years of A & C’s experience in design and development. This lightweight robotic remote camera head with a large budget specification, boasts a low budget cost.

The system is hassle free and gives the operator a real edge when itcomes to producing great shots, all the time.

Our systems are forgiving when it comes to balance and still give exceptional performance with loads that are not perfectly balanced.

Capable of comfortably handling camera loads of up to 70 lbs (32kg) the head can weigh as little as 16lbs (7kg). Its weather resistant gearboxes have surprising power and impressive response, giving it a superb level of performance. This still applies even when conditions are less than ideal, creating a system that performs like a “Mouse on Steroids”.

Perfect for situations where either size or weight are restricted and without the need to sacrifice performance and reliability

Options Include:

  • Third Axis
  • Control of up to 10 Heads from one Console
  • Joystick
  • Hand Wheels
  • Adjustable Limits
  • Video Lens Control
  • BNC Link
  • Mitchell Mount
  • Pan bar
  • Memory Playback
  • Computer Interface
  • Film Lens Control
  • Backpan
  • RF Link
  • Axis Encoder Output Sockets
  • iPhone/iPad App

This is a digital system, and the Head is controlled and run through a single Power/Data cable. This cable only contains three wires (Power, Data & Ground) which provides power & controls for:

Pan / Tilt / Roll / Zoom / Focus / Iris / Camera Start-Stop / Camera Power

Each part of the system is linked to this Power/Data cable. These links can be in any order.

The PEE-POD 500 uses the same gearboxes for Pan and Tilt and any gearbox can be easily reprogrammed to act as another axis.

The gearboxes are self-contained units that only require power and data to operate, the amplifiers and data-processors are all inside each gearbox.

The servo drives have intelligent power management that maximise torque output. Motor temperature monitoring allow heavy duty cycles through current profiling which prevents overheating.

These gearboxes have a high-resolution output that gives about 4 million steps per revolution of gearbox.

PEE-POD 500 gearboxes have their own anti-backlash system.

Gearbox parameters & software can be changed via serial link or iPhone/iPad app. The gearboxes can be purchased separately and easily used to create custom systems.

Backpan on the  PEE-POD 500 HD (only available when using a Memory Console). This is a real advantage when the head is on a Jib Arm or Crane. Normally as the Crane swings to either left or right the operator will need to pan the head just to keep the lens on its target. Backpan automatically compensates for this change. It’s a simple on or off selection.

The PEE-POD 500 Slider Chassis

Exceptionally strong & light the “SLIDER” chassis is a two-axis format that allows the Pan & Tilt gearboxes to be slid into new positions, without the use of tools and whilst the Camera is still fitted.

It only takes seconds and it’s simple!

Designed to work well hanging or upside down, this clever format has up-rated bearings that dramatically increase the stability of the Pan & Tilt Axis. The rigidity of this arrangement is impressive and reduces any small vibrations that may come from the jib or mount from being amplified through to the lens.

By allowing the Pan offset to be moved (see the video), the whole head can be adjusted to give a centre of gravity about the threaded Mitchell fixing point. This means that when the head Pans quickly the end of the Crane does not try to sway.

In its upright position the SLIDER format keeps the lens height really low and this makes a good combination for use on car rigs or situations where low format & good stability is essential.

The lens control options for Film and Video lenses fit right next to the camera to keep cabling short and easy.

Our tests on the stability of the Video Camera Base Plates, highlighted this as an area of weakness.

Often the Base Plate is where the unwanted movement is introduced.

The SLIDER solves this problem using a top clamp that grips the top of the Camera and stops the unwanted movement.

The SLIDER has a number of advantages:-

  • Lightweight & strong with impressive stability
  • Easily adjustable to keep the package size small
  • Works really well under-slung or upright
  • Reduces jib arm swaying when panning quickly
  • Minimizes vibrations from traveling rigs & telescoping arms

The PEE-POD 500 Spinner Chassis

This is the three-axis version of the Slider Chassis and maintains the Slider advantages with the benefit of the Roll axis.

The third axis or Roll Ring has easy adjustable slides to accommodate a large variety of Camera package sizes.
